How to Make Banana Bread

Makes: 1 loaf

Ingredients needed to make banana bread:

  • 1 lb ripe bananas, peeled
  • 1 ½ cup all purpose flour
  • 5.5 oz light brown sugar
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 5 oz walnuts, coarsely chopped

Cooking instructions for banana bread:

Warm up your oven to 350 degree F.
Lightly oil a loaf pan with butter and dust it with small amount of flour; set aside.
Cut the ripe bananas into small chunks and add 2/3 of them into a bowl; mash them into a smooth pulp.
Mash the rest of the bananas roughly in a separate bowl and stir them into the smooth mashed bananas until mixed properly.
Stir in the salt and baking powder into the flour and sift them into a bowl.
Whisk the eggs in a large mixing bowl along with melted butter and sugar, with an electric mixer, until they turn slightly fluffy and pale in colour.
Add the mashed bananas to this mixture and fold them together with the dry mixture.
Stir them well together into a uniform mixture and add the walnuts.
Fold them into the batter too and pour it into the pre-greased pan.
Bake the bread for 1 hour at the preheated temperature.
After the cooking time is over, insert a skewer into the centre of the banana bread and then take it out; a clean skewer indicates that the bread is baked to perfection.
Remove from oven and allow to cool for about 10 minutes.
Run a knife along the edges of the pan to free the sides of the bread and invert the mold onto a plate.
Demold the cake and cool it to room temperature.
Carve out thick slices and serve with tea or coffee.
