  • 11 oz. dark chocolate, broken into smaller pieces
  • 1 c. heavy cream
  • 1/4 c. Kahlua
  • 1 t. pure vanilla extract
  • Flakey sea salt, for serving

Instructions

  • Prepare the Tart Shell:
    1. Preheat the oven to 350° F.
    2. In a medium bowl, blend the flour, sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Introduce melted butter, olive oil, and milk. Stir until the mixture forms a crumbly dough.
    3. Press this dough into your tart shell, ensuring the sides are slightly thicker than the bottom for structural integrity.
    4. Prick the base of the tart shell with a fork and bake until it achieves a golden-brown hue and crisp texture, approximately 20-25 minutes.
    5. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
    • Craft the Filling:
    1. Combine the chocolate and heavy cream in a medium saucepan over low heat. Stir steadily to melt the chocolate without burning it.
    2. Once melted, remove from heat. Stir in the Kahlua and vanilla extract, blending the mixture until smooth.
    • Assemble the Tart:
    1. Pour the luscious chocolate Kahlua mixture over the baked tart shell.
    2. Refrigerate the tart to set the filling, allowing it to firm up for a few hours (usually at least 2 hours).
    • Serve with Sophistication:
    1. Just before serving, sprinkle flakey sea salt over the tart. The salt not only enhances the flavors but also adds a textural contrast that elevates the dessert.
