Ingredients needed to make Burger King Big Fish:
For the burger:
- 1 centre-cut cod fillet, weighing about 3.5 oz
- 1 hamburger bun
- 1 tsp all purpose flour
- 1 tsp milk
- 1 tbsp dry bread crumbs
- 1 egg white
- ½ cup chopped lettuce
- 1 American cheese slice
- Olive oil spray
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp Burger King tartar sauce (recipe below)
For the tartar sauce:
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tsp corn syrup
- 2 tbsp dill pickle relish
Cooking instructions for Burger King Big Fish:
- To make the tartar sauce, dump all its ingredients into a bowl and whisk them well together until they mix thoroughly. It will give you about 1/3 cup of tartar sauce which can be stored in an airtight container and refrigerated for over a month.
- To make the burger, whisk the egg white for a couple of minute and add a splash of milk into it before beating them further until well combined.
- Spread the bread crumbs across a flat plate and set aside until necessary.
- Stir a dash of salt into the flour and place the fish on it.
- Flip it over to coat well with the seasoned flour and shake off any excess.
- Transfer the dredged fish into the egg mixture and then place it onto the plate with breadcrumbs.
- Turn the fish over to coat well and evenly with the crumbs and press it gently so that they stick to the fish.
- Grease a baking sheet with the olive oil spray and place the coated fish on it.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 450 degrees F for about 8-10 minutes or until the coating becomes crispy golden brown.
- Turn it over and continue to bake the other side for another 5-7 minutes.
- Meanwhile, place either halves of the hamburger buns on a hot griddle with the crustier sides facing down and toast them until they brown slightly.
- Place the bottom half of the bun on a plate and put the baked fish on top.
- Spread the chopped lettuce over it and top it up with the American cheese slice.
- Cover it with a dollop of the prepared tartar sauce and place the upper half of the bun on top.
- Serve and tuck in.
