Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 20 mins
Ingredients needed to make Palmiers:
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Cooking instructions for Palmiers:
- Spread the pastry across lightly-floured working counter and set aside, covered, to thaw until they become flexible.
- Dust a thick layer of sugar across the pastry sheet and press it gently into the sheet, using rolling pin, so that they stick to the dough.
- Roll either side of the sheet until they approach each other at the centre,
- Wrap it up in a cling film and leave the rolled cylinder in the fridge for half an hour.
- Warm up your oven to 425 degrees F, while the rack is positioned midway within it.
- Unwrap the rolled dough and slice it into a couple of inches thick palmier cookies, with the help of a serrated knife.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the cookies on it, spaced a couple of inches apart to allow space for them to expand.
- Press them gently with your palm to flatten them out and smother it with a lashing of melted butter.
- Dust some powdered sugar on top and bake the palmiers in the oven for about 20 minutes or until they turn golden brown; you can also use cinnamon-sugar blend or lemon zest blend for dusting.
- Set aside outside the oven to cool completely and dump them into an airtight container.
- Serve next day for more delicious experience.
- They taste great when served alongside nutella or jam.
