Serves: 4
Preparation time: 15-20 mins
Cooking time: 20 mins
Ingredients needed to make the McDonalds McRib:
- 16 oz pork spare ribs, uncooked and bones from first rack chopped off
- Four 6’’ white sandwich rolls, centre split
- 8 dill pickle slices
- 1 cup Hunt’s Original Barbecue Sauce
- ½ cup yellow onion, sliced
- 3 tbsp water
- ¾ tsp salt
- 1 tsp granulated sugar
Cooking instructions for the McDonalds McRib:
- Add the pork into a food processor, along with a dash of salt, sugar as well as water and pulse them at high speed for a minute into a smooth puree.
- Split the pureed meat into 4 equal parts and set aside.
- Spread a sheet of parchment paper across a baking sheet and place the portions of the pureed pork onto it, spaced apart.
- Shape them into rectangular patties with your moistened fingers and place another sheet of parchment paper over them.
- Press it gently and leave it in the freezer for about 2 hours or until it becomes rock hard.
- Heat a griddle over moderate heat and toast the either halves of each sandwich roll on it with their crustier sides facing down.
- Remove the toasted sandwich roll halves from the griddle and place the pork patties on it.
- Cook each side for about 3-5 minutes or until they are blistered at several places.
- Turn it over to cook the other side similarly.
- Transfer them to a plate and set aside to cool to some extent.
- Tip a cup of BBQ sauce into a large, shallow-bottomed bowl and dip each of the patty into it with the help of tongs.
- Flip it over a couple of times or until it is evenly coated with the sauce.
- Transfer the patty to the bottom half of a sandwich roll and top it up with a couple of pickle slices.
- Sprinkle 2 tbsp of chopped onions over them and place the top of roll over it.
- Make rest of the sandwich rolls in a similar fashion.
- Cook the sandwiches in the microwave oven for half a minute at highest setting.
- Serve and dig in!
