How to Cook Grandma’s Patties with Cabbage
Ingredients needed to make Grandma’s patties with cabbage:
- Flour, 500 g
- Dry yeast, 5 g
- 1 free-range egg
- Sugar, 1 teaspoon
- Melted butter, 2 tablespoons
- Lightly warm water, 200 g
- Salt, ¼ teaspoon
- Cabbage, 500 g
- 1 big onion
- Salt and pepper (season by taste)
- 2 egg yellows for smearing
Cooking instructions for Grandma’s patties with cabbage:
Chop finely onion and fry it from all sides for 2-3 minutes. Finely grate cabbage and add to fried onions. Add salt and pepper and stew for 15-20 minutes.
Take yeast and dillute it in lightly warm water. Pour the water with the yeast in the bol, where you will prepare pastry. Add egg, sugar, ¼ teaspoon of salt and whisk it a little bit. Add flour and melted butter and knead the dough. Knead it as long, as needed for dough not to stick to the hands. Place the towel over the bowl with the pastry and leave it in warm place for 30-40 minutes.
After that press down the pastry and roll as tight plait, cut into pieces (smaller, then you would like patties to be) and roll a balls. Cover the balls with the towel and leave for 15-20 minutes.
Preheat oven up to 230º temperature. Roll out the pastry balls to become 1 cm width, put prepared cabbage filling and pinch the edges together. Put on baking tray, smear with egg yellows and cook for 15 minutes.
