How to Bake Cheesy Bread Sticks With Avocado Dip

Ingredients needed to make Cheesy Bread Sticks With Avocado Dip:

For the bread sticks:

  • 16 oz part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 2 lb store-bought pizza dough
  • Dash of garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano, crushed
  • Extra virgin olive oil, as required

For the dip:

  • 2 ripe avocados, peeled and seed removed
  • ½ cup fat free Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
  • ¼ tsp ground cumin
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste

Cooking instructions for Cheesy Bread Sticks With Avocado Dip:

  • Warm up your oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Spread a sheet of parchment paper across two baking sheet and set aside.
  • Carve out ¼’’ wide strips from the mozzarella and keep them aside until required.
  • Sprinkle some flour across your working surface and place the dough on it.
  • Split each dough into two equal halves and roll two of them into 8’’x16’’ rough rectangles, each about ¼’’ in thickness.
  • Slice each rectangle into 8’’ long strips, each about a couple of inches wide.
  • Arrange the mozzarella strips in a single line, along the middle of each dough strip and wrap the edges around the cheese filling; pinch the open ends together to seal and roll it on a lightly floured working surface to smooth out its surface.
  • Make rest of the cheese-stuffed bread sticks in a similar fashion.
  • Arrange them on the prepared baking sheet and set aside for half an hour or until it rises more than its original volume.
  • Make rest of the bread sticks with the other halves of pizza dough.
  • Smother the surface of the breadsticks with a lashing of olive oil and sprinkle a dash of oregano, garlic powder and salt generously.
  • Finish it off with a sprinkling of grated parmesan cheese on top and bake them in the oven at a reduced temperature of 350 degrees F for about 15-20 minutes or until they puff up and turns golden brown.
  • Bake the 2nd batch of cheezy bread sticks in the same manner.
  • While the bread sticks bake, scoop out the flesh of the avocado into a food processor and pour in the yogurt, along with rest of the ingredients.
  • Pulse them into a smooth, creamy puree and adjust the seasonings if required.
  • Spoon it into a serving bowl and set aside until the bread sticks are ready to be served.
  • Set aside for about 5 minutes to cool slightly and stack them up on the serving platter.
  • Eat them right away, along with then avocado dip before they lose their crunchy feel
