  • 1 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • Brewed espresso for a runny glaze

Cooking instructions for cinnamon rolls:

  • Fit a dough hook attachment to a stand mixer and pour the milk into its bowl.
  • Add the sugar as well as yeast and whisk them together until they are mixed thoroughly; set aside for about 5 minutes or until it turns foamy.
  • Crack the egg into it, add the butter and beat the mixture again until it is properly blended.
  • Add the salt and sprinkle the flour at times while beating the mixture until all of it is incorporated into the mixture.
  • Knead the mixture for about 5 minutes into a soft dough at medium high speed.
  • Put a lid on and set it aside for an hour in a warm place to let it rise to double its previous size.
  • After an hour, heat a saucepan over moderate heat and add the brown sugar, cinnamon and espresso.
  • Stir the mixture until the sugar melts and continue to heat it for a couple of minutes or until it turns into a shiny syrup; turn the heat off and set aside.
  • Place the dough on your kitchen’s working counter and roll it into a rectangular log.
  • Smother the log with softened butter and top it up with chocolate chips.
  • Add  a lashing of espresso syrup over it and roll up the dough again.
  • Trim off its uneven ends and cut it into 2’’ wide rolls.
  • Arrange the rolls on a pre-greased baking dish and wrap the surface of the dish with an aluminium foil; set aside for about 45 minutes.
  • Warm up your oven to 400 degrees F and bake the cinnamon rolls for about half an hour.
  • Do away with the foil and continue to bake for another 5 minutes or until the surface turns golden brown.
  • As the baking time approaches its end, add the vanilla as well as cinnamon to the maple syrup and whisk them together into a smooth mixture.
  • Gently pour in the espresso while you continue to whisk until a runny glaze is formed.
  • Remove the rolls from the oven and drizzle the glaze over them.
  • Eat them fresh out of the oven.
