How to Bake Aniseed Shortbreads
Yields: 16 slices
Preparation time: 1 hour
Cooking time: 25 mins
Ingredients needed to make Aniseed Shortbreads:
- ½ cup all purpose flour
- 9 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2/3 cup cornstarch
- 2 tsp aniseeds
- ½ cup icing sugar
Cooking instructions for Aniseed Shortbreads:
- Warm up your oven to 325 degrees F and spread a sheet of parchment paper across a springform pan.
- Place the flour and cornstarch into a food processor, along with the icing sugar.
- Drop a large splodge of unsalted butter into it and whiz them up until they blend thoroughly and gather together to form a pale dough.
- Throw in the aniseeds and continue to process the dough until they are distributed evenly throughout the mixture.
- Place the dough onto the lined pan and spread it out across its base, while pressing it gently, so that it reaches the edges to form an even layer of dough.
- Place the pan in the oven and bake the shortbread dough for about 25 minutes or until it is baked through and browns slightly around its corners.
- Take it out of the oven, and place it onto a wire rack.
- Press the teeth of the fork on top of the hot shortbread to imprint patterns on it and set aside for about 10 minutes to cool.
- Carve out 16 slices from the shortbread while it is still in the pan, and continue to cool for another half an hour.
- Remove the bottom of the pan and arrange the shortbread slices on top of the wire rack; set aside to cool completely.
- Serve and tuck in!
