Chocolate Fondue is perfect for romantic dinners, Valentine’s Day, a dinner party, or just a bit of fun on a Friday night.  Dip anything you like, but chocolate dipped berries are particularly good. So are pretzels, marshmallows, cake, fruit etc.

Melted chocolate and fruit, what's not to love in this simple, delicious dessert recipe for chocolate fondue.

Ingredients

  • 2 strips of orange rind, pared from a whole orange with a vegetable peeler.
  • A large pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp of caster sugar
  • 150g dark chocolate
  • 2 tbsp double cream, plus 1 extra tbsp to decorate
  • 12 oz fresh fruit, such as strawberries, raspberries, grapes, blueberries, figs or cherries for dipping

Instructions

  1. Add the orange rind, cinnamon, sugar and 120ml water to a small saucepan and heat gently until the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Simmer for 3-4 minutes or until syrupy and leave to cool for 10 minutes or longer to allow the flavors to develop.
  3. Discard the orange rind and reheat the syrup.
  4. Remove from the heat and add the chocolate, stirring until smooth.
  5. Mix in 2 tbsp double cream and stir until glossy.
  6. Reheat gently if needed.
  7. Arrange the fruit on a plate with fondue skewers or small forks and pour the fondue sauce into a cup or fondue pot set over a burner.
  8. Decorate with an extra drizzle of cream and swirl with a skewer before serving.
