Yields: 4 eggs
Preparation time: overnight
Cooking time: 30 mins
Ingredients needed to make Chocolate Easter Eggs:
- 1 lb semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 4 eggs
Cooking instructions for Chocolate Easter Eggs:
- Tap the base of each egg with a straight pin to make a hole and continue to poke around it to widen it up.
- Poke the egg yolk with a toothpick to break it down and pour it out into a container.
- Wash the hollowed interior of the egg shells under running cold water and heat them up in a oven for about 10 minutes at 300 degrees F or until they are dried.
- Remove from the oven and set aside to cool completely.
- To prepare the chocolate, toss the chocolate bits into a microwave-safe bowl and melt in the microwave at high for a couple of minutes while stirring it every half a minute, until it turns smooth and glossy mixture.
- Spoon it into a piping bag, attached with a round tip and set aside.
- Place the egg shells into an egg carton with the hole-side facing up.
- Pipe the melted chocolate into each cavity up to the brim, tapping the egg from time to time to get rid of any trapped bubbles inside.
- Leave the carton in the fridge overnight or until the chocolate sets.
- Next day, take the carton out of the oven and tap each egg shell gently until it cracks.
- Peel it off until you are only left with the solid chocolate egg and embellish them with ribbons and candies.
- Wrap them in gift packages and present them to your dear ones this Easter.
