How to Make Kang Jung (Sesame Candies)

Ingredients needed to make Kang Jung (Sesame Candies):
- 2 cups sesame seeds
- 4 tbsp honey
- ¾ cup water
- 1 cup light brown sugar
Cooking instructions for Kang Jung (Sesame Candies):
- Heat a large skillet over moderate heat and toss the sesame seeds into it.
- Roast them over low heat, stirring often, for about 4-5 minutes or until they start crackling and give out a nutty aroma.
- Tip them into a bowl and set aside.
- Pour water into the skillet and stir in a splash of honey as well brown sugar until well mixed.
- Cook it over low heat, stirring regularly, for about 5-7 minutes or until the sugar melts and the mixture thickens into syrup.
- Return the sesame seeds into the skillet and stir them all together until well coated with the syrup.
- Spread it immediately into an even layer over a cookie sheet, previously greased with a lashing of oil and top it up with a sheet of parchment paper.
- Run a rolling pin on top to flatten out the sesame layer and set aside for about 5 minutes or until the candy cools and sets completely.
- Peel off the parchment paper and slice the candies into 1’’ squares.
- Remove the cookie sheet too and store them at room temperature, in an airtight container.
- Tuck them in whenever you are hungry and enjoy!
