How to Make Crispy Cakes
Yields: 16-20 cakes
Preparation time: overnight
Cooking time: 10 mins
Ingredients needed to make Crispy Cakes:
- 5 Mars bars, chopped
- 3 ½ oz rice Krispies
- 5 oz unsalted butter, plus more for greasing
- 3 oz plain chocolate, roughly chopped
Cooking instructions for Crispy Cakes:
- Rub a knob of butter all over the interiors of an 8’’ square, deep-bottomed cake pan to grease and set aside.
- Place a large, heatproof bowl onto a larger pan with simmering water, making sure that the bottom of the upper bowl doesn’t come in contact with the water directly.
- Throw in the Mars bar chunks into the bowl, followed by the butter and stir them all together until they melt and blend together to form a smooth, glossy mixture.
- Turn off the heat and fold in the rice Krispies or any other puffed rice cereals of your choice, until they are distributed evenly throughout the melted Mars bars and are well coated.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and run a rubber spatula along its surface to smooth it out.
- Spread the mixture to its edges and corners at the same time and set aside to cool completely.
- Arrange another double boiler using clean utensils and toss the coarse chocolate pieces into it.
- Melt it, while stirring all the time, and drizzle it all over the hardened crispy cake until the latter is covered completely.
- Place the chocolate-coated crispy cake into the fridge and set aside overnight to set.
- Carve out small squares, while the cake is still in the pan and then flip the latter onto a plate to remove them.
- Arrange them on a large serving platter and serve chilled.
