How to Cook Steamed Tofu with Fish

Ingredients needed to make Steamed Tofu with Fish:
- ½ lb salmon fillet
- 14 oz soft tofu
- 5 dried shiitake mushrooms
- 1 green onion, julienned
- 1 large carrot, cooked
- 2 ginger root slices
- 1 medium fresh bamboo shoot, cooked
- 1 red chili pepper, julienned
- ½ cups low-sodium chicken broth
- Salt to taste
Soy sauce blend:
- ¼ tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- ¼ tsp ground black pepper
Cooking instructions for Steamed Tofu with Fish:
- Slice the tofu into 10 pieces and chop the salmon, bamboo shoot as well as carrot into similar-sized chunks.
- slice the mushrooms into equal halves and set aside.
- Place a tofu chunk onto a plate and top it up with a slice of salmon.
- Place a piece of bamboo shoot over it, which in turn is topped with a slice of carrot and mushroom.
- Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used up and set aside.
- Stir in ½ tsp salt into the chicken broth until well combined and drizzle it all over the piled-up layers.
- Place the plate carefully into a bamboo steamer and put the lid on.
- Place the steamer into a large vessel with simmering water and steam it for about 10 minutes over high heat.
- Meanwhile, drizzle a tbsp of oil into a wok and heat over medium flame until it shimmers.
- Throw in the ginger, green onion as well as green chili and sauté for a minute.
- Place all the ingredients of soy sauce mixture in a small bowl and stir them all together to mix well.
- Pour it into the sautéed mixture and give it a nice stir to coat well.
- Bring the sauce to a boil and remove from heat.
- Drizzle it all over the steamed layers and serve right away.
