How to Cook Chicken Tikka Wraps

Ingredients needed to make Chicken Tikka Wraps:

For the marinade:

  • 5 fl oz greek y yogurt
  • 1 oz cheddar cheese, coarsely grated
  • 1’’ piece fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped
  • Large pinch of green cardamom seeds
  • Large pinch of black cardamon seeds
  • Large pinch of fennel seeds
  • 2 tbsp gram flour
  • 1 ½ tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp salt to taste

For the chicken:

  • 14 oz boneless and skinless chicken breasts, diced
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • Oil, for brushing

For the wrap:

  • 5 packaged flour tortillas
  • 2 tomatoes, finely sliced
  • ½ onion, finely sliced
  • 1 lettuce, shredded
  • ¾ tsp chaat masala, available at Asian grocery stores
  • 5 fl oz chutney

Cooking instructions for Chicken Tikka Wraps:

  • Add the whole spices to spice grinder and pulse them into a fine powder.
  • Transfer the ground spices into a large bowl, along with rest of the ingredients and whisk them together into a uniform mixture.
  • Poke the chicken cubes with a fork and place it inside the bowl.
  • Toss them until they are well coated with the marinate and set aside in the fridge for a couple of hours to marinate.
  • To cook the chicken, take it out of the fridge and allow to return to room temperature.
  • In the meantime, warm up your grill to medium and grease its rack with lots of oil.
  • Spread an aluminium foil on the floor of the oven to catch any juice or marinade dripping down from the chicken pieces.
  • Insert the skewers through the marinated chicken chunks and place them on the grill rack so that they are spaced apart.
  • Grill the chicken tikkas for about 8-10 minutes, flipping them over once halfway of the cooking time is reached.
  • During the last five minutes of cooking, wrap the the tortillas in an aluminium foil and place it into the oven so that it is toasted while the tikkas grill.
  • Brush them with the melted butter and continue to grill further for a minute or until the edges char slightly.
  • Remove the skewers and sprinkle chaat masala over them.
  • Arrange few chicken tikkas along the middle of each tortilla and place the sliced veggies on top.
  • Smother them with chutney and one end of tortilla over the other.
  • Tuck in the open end and slice diagonally.
  • Serve with chutney and enjoy.
