How to Cook Wonton Soup

Ingredients needed to make Wonton Soup:
- 18-24 wonton wrappers
For the filling:
- 1 green onion, finely diced
- ½ lb boneless lean pork, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp sherry
- Few drops sesame oil
- Ground white pepper to taste
- ½ tsp sugar
For the soup:
- 5 cups chicken stock
- Few drops sesame oil
- Green onion, thinly sliced
Cooking instructions for Wonton Soup:
- Dump all the ingredients of filling in a bowl and stir them all together to mix well.
- Spread a wonton wrapper on your working surface and brush few drops of water along its edges to moisten.
- Place a tsp of the prepared filling on the middle the wonton and fold one of its side over the filling to form a half-circle.
- Press the open edges together to seal and push the filling towards the centre of the wonton by pressing along its edges with your thumb.
- Fold the wonton once again and press the two corners together with moist fingers to seal.
- Make rest of the wonton in a similar fashion and set aside.
- Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a boil.
- Drop the wontons into the boiling water and cook for about 5 minutes until the filling is properly cooked and they float up onto the water surface.
- Drain them out, using slotted spoon, into a bowl and set aside.
- To cook the soup, pour the stock into a clean pot and bring it to a boil.
- Drop the cooked wontons into it and continue to boil for a couple of minutes.
- Stir in the green onions and drizzle the sesame oil into it.
- Give it a final stir and pour it into serving bowls, while dividing the wontons equally between them.
- Serve hot.
