Ingredients needed to make Indian-style Pizza:

For the pizza base:

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • Pinch of salt
  • Water, as necessary

For the topping:

  • 2 cups assorted vegetables (cabbage, spring onion, baby corn, bell peppers and onion)
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp mixed herbs
  • 1 tsp chat masala
  • ½ cup cottage cheese, crumbled
  • ½ cup processed cheese, grated
  • ½ cup tomato ketchup
  • Butter, for greasing
  • Rock salt to taste

Cooking instructions for Indian-style Pizza:

  • To make the pizza base, stir in the baking powder and yeast in 1 ½ tbsp warm water until they blend together to form a uniform paste.
  • Scrap out this paste into the flour, placed in a bowl and stir in a dash of salt until well combined.
  • Work them together with our hands, along with splashes of warm water, until they gather together to form a soft dough.
  • Knead it for several minutes until it turns elastic and transfer it onto a lightly oiled bowl; set aside for an hour to let it rise.
  • Punch it down with your knuckles and stretch it with your hands until it forms a ½’’ thick disc; you can also use a floured rolling pin to flatten it out.
  • Place the base into a pan and spread the butter along its edges.
  • Place a lid on top and cook on the stovetop for 5-7 minutes, over slow flame, until the base is cooked through and fluffs up nicely.
  • Make the other pizza bases in a similar fashion and set aside on a wire rack to cool; set aside.
  • To make the topping, heat a lashing of oil in a pan and throw in the assorted veggies.
  • Sprinkle the mixed herbs as well as a pinch of salt over them and stir fry them for 5 minutes or until the veggies turn tender.
  • Turn off the heat and sprinkle a dash of chat masala over the veggies.
  • Toss them well to coat properly and set aside.
  • Spread some tomato sauce on top of each base and top it up with a single layer of ¼ veggie topping.
  • Sprinkle the crumbled cottage cheese on top and cover it with a sprinkling of grated cheese.
  • Top rest of the pizzas in a similar fashion and place in a preheated oven, set at low temperature, to cook until the cheese melts.
  • Slice and serve warm.
