Chinese Chili Spare Ribs
Spare ribs are truly tasty! These super chili charged, sticky Chinese spare ribs make for a great dinner. You can buy petite spare ribs for a smaller serving size, or look for the super fat, meaty ones, although those take longer to nook through. For hotter ribs, leave the seeds in your chilis, for milder, remove the seeds. You can also make this with a milder pepper if you prefer. Fry the spare ribs up in a wok or any good sized frying pan.
Chilli Spare Ribs
Just 6 simple ingredients make up these super fiery, Chinese spare ribs.
Ingredients
- 14 oz pork spare ribs
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 1 tsp Chinese five spice
- 3 medium red chillies
- Sea salt and black pepper to season
- 17 fl oz vegetable oil for deep fat frying
Instructions
- Slice the chillies into thin rings, leave the seeds for a really hot and fiery flavor.
- To make the coating, mix the cornflour, five spice powder and chillies with enough water to make a thick paste. Season with salt and pepper.
- Coat each rib with the sauce.
- Heat the oil in a wok, over a moderate heat.
- When hot, fry the ribs in batches until the coating is crisp and the meat tender.
- Remove from the pan, drain on absorbent paper and serve.
