How to Cook Smoked Salmon Hash

Ingredients needed to make Smoked Salmon Hash:

For the hash:

  • 6 oz smoked salmon, sliced and chopped into bite-sized chunks
  • 1 ½ lb Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and chopped into ½’’ cubes
  • 2 medium shallots, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp water

For the vinaigrette:

  • 1 medium garlic clove, peeled and minced
  • 3 tbsp Italian parsley leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • ½ tsp lemon zest, finely grated
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp kosher salt

Cooking instructions for Smoked Salmon Hash:

  • To make the vinaigrette, dump all its ingredients into a medium, glass bowl and sprinkle a dash of ground black pepper to season.
  • Whisk them thoroughly until mixed properly into a uniform mixture and keep aside.
  • To cook the hash, drizzle oil in a large skillet and heat it over moderate heat until it shimmers.
  • Throw in the potatoes and sprinkle a dash of salt as well as black pepper to season.
  • Give it a nice stir to coat the potatoes completely with the seasonings and oil.
  • Place a lid on top and cook them for 8-10 minutes, stirring them halfway through cooking, until the veggies are cooked properly and brown slightly.
  • Stir in the shallots and sauté for 10 minutes, stirring at times, until the potatoes golden brown all over and the shallots soften.
  • Adjust the seasonings if necessary and stir to mix well.
  • Turn off the heat and sprinkle the salmon chunks on top of the sautéed mixture.
  • Stir them all together until they are distributed evenly throughout the mixture and divide it among four serving plates.
  • Serve warm alongside a bowl of prepared vinaigrette by the side.
